Team WE vs FPX, the other BO of the day, was played as scheduled in Shanghai
As announced by the LPL and JD Gaming, the BO between JDG and Weibo Gaming, originally scheduled for Monday, August 4 at 7 PM CST, has been postponed due to rainstorm alerts across Beijing and geological hazard warnings in multiple districts. The series was set to take place in Beijing, at JDG’s home venue, rather than the LPL studio in Shanghai — which hosted the Team WE vs FunPlus Phoenix match the same day, as Shanghai was not affected by the warnings. The match has now been rescheduled for August 28.
This isn’t the first BO to be postponed in the LPL during Split 3 — back on July 30, the match between Bilibili Gaming and Invictus Gaming was also rescheduled to August 28 due to a typhoon affecting the city of Shanghai. "282,800 people were evacuated," according to state broadcaster CCTV. The VALORANT Champions Tour China (VCT CN) was similarly forced to postpone the series between XLG Esports and NOVA Esports due to the same weather conditions.
An extra day added to the regular season
Originally, the LPL regular season was set to conclude on August 27, but with these two rescheduled matches, it will now extend to August 28. As a reminder, the LPL has been playing every single day without exception since July 19—over a month of non-stop competition that will determine the four teams advancing directly to playoffs, the eight teams heading to the Play-In, and the two whose season will come to an end.

The LPL stands out as the only major league within Riot Games’ global League of Legends ecosystem that allows teams to play in their own home arenas located across various cities in China. This home-and-away format brings fans closer to their favorite teams by creating a more localized and immersive experience. In the second split, five different venues hosted matches: JD Gaming's home ground at the Beijing·Jingdong Intel Esports Center in Beijing; LNG Esports' base at the Yangcheng International Esports Center in Suzhou; the Buji Cultural and Sports Center in Shenzhen, home of Ninjas in Pyjamas; Team WE’s arena in Xi’an; and the official Riot Games studio in Shanghai.
