In Game 5, Weibo left no room for doubt as they stomped JDG in dominant fashion
Day 2 of the LPL Split 2 Playoffs brought us another pair of best-of-fives. The first series saw Anyone's Legend breeze past Team WE in just three games, securing their spot in the Upper Bracket with ease. Later, JD Gaming and Weibo Gaming clashed in a much tighter series that went the full five games. After a toplane 1v1 to decide side selection for the decider, Weibo came out on top, handing JDG a tough loss and sending them down to the Lower Bracket.
A dominant win for Anyone's Legend
It was expected that AL would dominate Team WE—and they didn’t disappoint. Three games, three different MVPs. They kicked things off with a sub-25-minute win in Game 1, with Li "Flandre" Xuanjun picking up MVP honors on Yorick—a champion that's been rising in popularity this split, now the fourth most-picked toplaner in the LPL and proving effective.
Game 2 was the longest of the series at 31 minutes, giving Wang "Hope" Jie time to shine and earn MVP, securing match point for AL. To wrap it all up, Game 3 featured 22 kills—18 of them for the pandas—as AL cruised to a dominant win and punched their ticket to the Upper Bracket, where they’ll face Weibo next.
No more mistakes allowed for JDG
Five long games between JDG and Weibo ended with WBG coming out on top. JDG started strong, thanks to a clean early game and a standout performance from their botlane. Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan led the charge on Varus, finishing 6/0/9 with top damage in Game 1 to give JDG the lead.
Weibo responded in Game 2 with a hard-fought win that looked uncertain for most of the game. JDG seemed in control, but Chen "Breathe" Chen on K’Sante and Gao "Tian" Tian-Liang on Trundle held firm in the frontline, allowing Weibo to turn key fights and even the series.
JDG struck back to take match point in Game 3 and looked confident heading into the close. But Weibo had other plans. Support player Shi "Erha" Xu-Ye completely shifted the momentum—first with Sett in Game 4, then with a clutch Bard in Game 5. JDG were outdrafted and overwhelmed, managing just one kill in the final game as Weibo crushed them to earn a spot against AL in the Upper Bracket.
Next week, the LPL Playoffs move to one best-of-five per day. It all starts Monday with the highly anticipated clash between Top Esports and Bilibili Gaming. On Tuesday, AL will face Weibo in the Upper Bracket. Wednesday will mark the first elimination match, with FunPlus Phoenix going up against Invictus Gaming. The week wraps up on Thursday with Team WE taking on JD Gaming in a fight to stay alive in the split.
