Team Vitality, G2 Esports and Movistar KOI featured in the Team of the Week
The third week of the LEC has wrapped up, with six best-of-threes played from Saturday, August 16, to Monday, August 18. Three teams have already secured their spot in the Upper Bracket playoffs: Karmine Corp, G2 Esports, and Fnatic. Movistar KOI, Team Vitality, and GIANTX are also locked in, though each still has one series left to determine who will advance directly to the Worlds Qualifying Series. On the other hand, Natus Vincere have been eliminated from the Summer Split. In the other group, the race remains wide open between Team BDS, SK Gaming, and Team Heretics.
The week kicked off with the Spring Split champions struggling at first but eventually clean sweeping NAVI. SK pulled off an upset over TH, while Vitality came out on top in their decisive match against NAVI. G2 then showcased their dominance by taking down Fnatic, proving once again they might be the best team in the league right now. The biggest surprise came when Vitality reverse swept KC, before G2 closed out the week with a clean sweep over BDS.
The Sheep Esports LEC Team of the Week — with a maximum of two players per team — features Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik in the toplane, Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan in the jungle, Mateusz "Czajek" Czajka in midlane, David "Supa" Martínez García as AD carry, and Kadir "Fleshy" Kemiksiz as support. BrokenBlade earns Most Valuable Player honors this week, delivering standout performances in both series against Fnatic and BDS.
Top: BrokenBlade (MVP)
BrokenBlade is not only our toplaner of the week, but also our MVP. Against Fnatic, the German player pulled out Kled in Game 1 to counter Óscar "Oscarinin" Muñoz’s Sion, and the pick worked perfectly. In Game 2, he followed it up with Rek’Sai into K’Sante. He repeated his impact on Monday against BDS: first with a 2/1/11 performance on K’Sante, and then with a dominant Dr. Mundo in Game 2. BrokenBlade went 6/0/4, secured a quadra kill, topped the damage charts, and proved completely unkillable — far too much for BDS to handle.
Jungle: SkewMond
The second G2 player in our Team of the Week is SkewMond, whose topside synergy with BrokenBlade delivered excellent performances across both series. Against Fnatic, he played two of the current meta picks, Xin Zhao and Pantheon, and both worked out flawlessly. The BDS series was another perfect showing, with a combined 7/0/19 on Poppy and Trundle. Now in his third split in the LEC, the French jungler is playing at what looks like his peak form since joining the Samurai. As a team, G2 have clearly leveled up — and much of that is thanks to SkewMond’s impact.
Mid: Czajek
It was a huge week for Team Vitality, who not only secured their playoff spot but also pulled off a major upset by taking down Karmine Corp. Things started with a crucial win against NAVI, where Czajek shined with an excellent Orianna in Game 1 and an even stronger Annie in Game 2, outplaying Emil "Larssen" Larsson. Against KC, the Bees were dismantled in Game 1 but bounced back with top-tier mid-jungle synergy between Czajek and Linas "Lyncas" Nauncikas, sealing their playoff berth. After a difficult Spring, the Summer Split is looking far brighter for the Polish midlaner.
ADC: Supa
Supa is the only player outside of Vitality and G2 to make our Team of the Week. Movistar KOI struggled against NAVI but ultimately came out on top, thanks in large part to a stellar performance from their AD carry. In Game 1, despite KOI falling heavily behind, Supa took over with his Kai’Sa, finishing 9/0/5. His fearless engages and bold dash-ins swung the momentum back in KOI’s favor. Game 2 was another tough battle, but this time on Corki he was nearly unkillable, positioning perfectly in teamfights and delivering constant DPS to close out a series that could easily have turned into a trap for KOI.
Support: Fleshy
The second Vitality player in our Team of the Week is Turkish support Fleshy. After a rough start to the split in his first-ever LEC appearance, he bounced back in style this week. He opened with a strong Rakan performance, finishing 1/4/19, followed by a near-flawless game in which Vitality closed 16–0 against NAVI to take a massive step toward playoffs. In the second series against Karmine Corp, Vitality were dominated in Game 1 but rallied back in Game 2, with Fleshy’s Alistar playing a key role. Then in Game 3, he locked in Pyke and helped secure the upset win against his former team.
