Jojopyun becomes the youngest player ever to win both the LEC and LCS, at just 20
Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun now holds two major titles in his young career: one in the LCS with Evil Geniuses in Spring 2022, and now the LEC Spring 2025 title with Movistar KOI. At just 20, he becomes the sixth player in history to win both the LCS and the LEC. A day before lifting the trophy, he had already made history as the first North American player to represent Europe internationally, after Movistar KOI’s landmark victory over Karmine Corp in the lower bracket final.
With this latest achievement, Jojopyun is already carving out a legacy in Europe. The only new addition to Movistar KOI's 2025 roster, assembled a year earlier, he proved to be exactly the missing piece. Thanks to him, MKOI finally claimed the long-coveted LEC title. But beyond team success, this win marks his entry into a very exclusive club.
Walking in the footsteps of giants
He is now the first non-European player ever to win both the LEC and LCS. All five who came before him were European — a testament to the difficulty of this feat. Those names? Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen (G2 Esports, Cloud9), Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik (Team SoloMid, G2 Esports), Luka "Perkz" Perković (G2 Esports, Cloud9), Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau (Fnatic, FlyQuest), and Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer (Cloud9, MAD Lions).
Zven was the first, lifting three LEC titles with G2 Esports, who just arrived in the league, through their run from 2016 to 2017, before heading to North America and winning the LCS with Cloud9 in Spring 2020. Perkz, his longtime teammate, followed a similar arc: after defining an era with G2, winning eight LEC titles, winning MSI 2019, and reaching the Worlds final, he crossed the Atlantic to win the LCS with Cloud9 in his very first split there, in Spring 2021. BrokenBlade first found domestic success in NA, taking the LCS crown with TSM in Summer 2020, then returned to Europe to claim his first LEC title with G2 Esports in Spring 2022.
Bwipo, known for his flexibility and flair, made his mark with Fnatic, winning the LEC in 2018, before transitioning to the LCS years later, where he helped FlyQuest to a first-ever Championship title in 2024 against Team Liquid. Lastly, Nisqy secured the LCS with Cloud9 in Spring 2020 and later returned home to win the LEC Summer 2022 with MAD Lions, becoming a fan-favorite for his consistency and leadership. Each followed a different path, each carried different styles and stories, but all crossed the Atlantic and conquered both shores. And now, Jojopyun walks among them.
