Fnatic stomp SK in just 24 minutes, fastest game of the Split so far
End of the first week of the 2025 League of Legends EMEA Championship Summer Split with two clean sweeps: first, Fnatic picked up their second win of the split against SK Gaming, who now suffer a second loss and see their playoff hopes dim. Then, GIANTX bounced back from yesterday’s loss to Karmine Corp with a win over Team Vitality, who were making their debut with Kadir "Fleshy" Kemiksiz in the support role.
Two teams completed a perfect week: Karmine Corp in Group 1 and Fnatic in Group 2. GIANTX sit at 1-1 after a win and a loss, while Vitality, Natus Vincere, and Team Heretics each fell in their only appearance. SK Gaming collapsed twice and continue to struggle despite three roster changes. Team BDS, meanwhile, got the job done in their lone showing against SK. The LEC resumes next week with a shorter two-day slate, running from August 9 to 10.
Two clean sweeps to close out the week
Fnatic completely stomped SK, with game one being the fastest of the Summer Split so far—just 24 minutes to blow up the enemy nexus. Elias "Upset" Lipp secured the first-ever LEC win on the new champion Yunara, finishing 6/0/7 and topping the damage charts. In game two, Fnatic's teamfighting was razor-sharp. Yoon "Poby" Sung-won delivered a clean Yone performance, landing multiple clutch ultimates. The Korean midlaner claimed his second MVP title in as many series, continuing a strong start with the orange and black.
Fleshy’s LEC debut ended in defeat, as GIANTX bounced back from their loss to Karmine Corp with a dominant win over SK. Both games lasted under 30 minutes, with GX in full control throughout the series—living up to the scrim rumors that often place them on top. As usual, Ismaïl "ISMA" Boualem set the pace for the Spanish side, earning MVP honors with standout performances on Sejuani in game one and Wukong in game two. Next week, GX face a tougher challenge in Movistar KOI, while Fnatic will play their third series of the split against BDS. The match of the week will be the highly anticipated clash between KC and KOI, scheduled for Sunday, August 10 around 7 PM CET.
