Nukeduck and Mithy won the "Coaching Staff of the split" award in Split 3
After two years of collaboration that defined a new era for FlyQuest, Head Coach Erlend "Nukeduck" Våtevik Holm and Assistant Coach Alfonso "Mithy" Aguirre Rodríguez will be leaving the organization ahead of the 2026 season.
The move marks the end of one of the most successful chapters in the team’s history—an era that turned FlyQuest from a promising contender into the emperor of America.
To hit the glass ceiling
FlyQuest’s 2025 season was a story of resilience and dominance. Despite a slow start in Split 1, the roster, guided by Nukeduck and Mithy, found its rhythm in the following splits, conquering North America’s newly restructured landscape. By the end of the year, FlyQuest stood tall as the undisputed emperors of the LTA, and will remain as such, as the LTA branding will disappear for LCS to be reborn.
Internationally, 2025 offered both progress and frustration. FlyQuest’s showing at MSI hinted at major growth—once again pushing a top Asian seed, BiliBili Gaming, to a decisive Game 5 before bowing out in what became a trademark of their international storylines. However, Worlds proved harsher. FLY failed to advance past the Swiss Stage, most notably losing to G2 Esports and falling short of the expectations set by their domestic reign and the promise they had carried since the previous year’s near-upset against Gen.G.
A solid personal record over two years
Nukeduck’s departure closes the greatest chapter in FlyQuest’s development. Under his guidance, the team consistently innovated through flexible drafts and bold off-meta strategies that redefined the Western approach to macro play. Whether through well-timed pocket picks or creative win conditions, FlyQuest often stood out as one of the few North American squads capable of matching global competition in strategic depth.
The Norwegian coach first joined FlyQuest ahead of the 2024 Spring Split, following a stint at 100 Thieves, and quickly found synergy working alongside Mithy. Together, they crafted one of the most cohesive Western coaching duos in recent memory. Winner of the "Coaching Staff of the split" award in Split 3, their vision, embodied by a roster full of talent with players like Fahad "Massu" Abdulmalek, Alan "Busio" Cwalina, and Kacper "Inspired" Słoma, allowed FlyQuest to capture the first titles in the organization’s history and, indirectly, strengthen the FlyQuest brand across North America.
On his side, Mithy joined midway through, in Summer 2024, after several years at Cloud9 where he served as Head Coach. He was one of the architects of FlyQuest’s successes during the year and a half he was there. The Spanish coach has served at four different clubs as a coach—first Fnatic, followed by Cloud9, 100 Thieves, and FlyQuest—alternating between head coach and assistant coach roles.
FlyQuest, the end of an era?
As FlyQuest enters the offseason, the organization now faces the challenge of maintaining its momentum without the architect who helped shape its recent success. Several players have left: Inspired joined LYON, Busio moved to Europe with Karmine Corp, and the team is likely to undergo significant changes, no longer resembling the version seen over the past two years.
