Levi played with GAM for seven and a half years
A monument of Vietnamese League of Legends is stepping away. After nearly ten years of professional play, Đỗ “Levi” Duy Khánh announced his retirement in a video released on November 18, the day of his 28th birthday. A central figure of the Vietnamese scene, Levi spent most of his career representing GAM Esports, the organization he first joined at the dawn of the 2017 season. Nine years later, he ends his career where it all began, playing his final game under their colors.
Levi confirmed that his decision was made after months of careful consideration. He explained that he has recently faced health issues, including stomach problems and pain in his right hand. However, he emphasized that the main reason behind his retirement is a desire to spend more time with his family and eventually start one of his own.
Reflecting on his career, the 27-year-old expressed some regret about not having achieved stronger international results with Vietnamese teams. “There’s one thing I really wanted to do, and that is to help VCS go further in international tournaments,” Levi said. “For example, seeing a VCS team make it to at least the top 8 at Worlds. But right now, I have to leave without having achieved that.”
The start of a decade of domestic dominance
Since debuting in 2015, Levi rose to become one of Vietnam’s most decorated players. Competing primarily with GAM Esports—formerly Gigabyte Marines—he won ten VCS championships and secured a gold medal at the 31st SEA Games.
His performances also earned him multiple appearances at both the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship. Levi’s standout playstyle, defined by early aggression and skirmish control, helped elevate Vietnam’s reputation on the global stage. His strong showings at MSI 2017, against G2 Esports, TSM, or Team WE, notably brought international attention to the VCS.
All roads lead to GAM
Levi’s success in Vietnam led to brief international stints. In 2018, he joined North American organization 100 Thieves before moving to China’s JD Gaming for the 2019 Spring Split—making him, alongside Lê “SofM” Quang Duy, one of the few Vietnamese players to compete in the LPL.
His time abroad was short-lived, and later that year, he returned to GAM Esports, where he remained until his retirement. Despite continued dominance in domestic competitions, GAM struggled to replicate that success internationally. The team missed qualification for the 2025 World Championship after losing to PSG Talon in the LCP Season Finals, ending their competitive run for the year.
The next chapter
At the end of his announcement, Levi stated that he plans to transition into full-time content creation. He is expected to begin streaming and potentially co-stream official matches in the future.
With Levi stepping away, GAM Esports faces a major rebuilding phase for the 2026 season. The organization currently has only three players under contract and will need to recruit a new jungler and support before the start of the next campaign.
