LoL - LCK: T1 follow up with a second consecutive LCK win, this time against Nongshim RedForce

Playing in front of their home crowd seems to suit T1 well. Last Friday, they ended Gen.G’s 27-series win streak in their opening match of LCK Round 3-5. Then, on Sunday, July 27, they followed up with another victory—this time over Nongshim RedForce. T1 now sit at 13-7 in the standings, two wins behind Hanwha Life Esports, while Gen.G remain firmly in first place with a dominant 19-1 record.

This LCK matchday also saw DRX take on DN Freecs, with DRX claiming a 2-1 win to move up to 6-14 in the Rise Group. Freecs, still sitting at 1-19, haven’t won a series since May 11 when they beat Nongshim. In Game 1, Freecs built a gold lead of over 4,000 but crumbled in a crucial teamfight led by Park "Teddy" Jin-seong. They bounced back in Game 2 with a rare clean game, but DRX closed it out in Game 3 with another strong performance from their AD Carry, who earned MVP of the series.

Only two teams pulled off a perfect week in the LCK: OKSavingsbank BRION in the Rise Group, and more notably, T1 in the Legend Group, who took down both Gen.G and Nongshim. Game 1 against Nongshim, however, was anything but easy for the reigning world champions. NS capitalized on a catch onto Ryu "Keria" Min-seok to secure Baron Nashor, putting pressure on T1. But thanks to well-coordinated teamfights and the steady presence of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, T1 turned things around. A highlight of the game was Choi "Doran" Hyeon-joon solo killing the enemy AD Carry twice.

Game 2 opened with five of the first six bans targeting jungle champions, leaving room for Viego and Nocturne to hit the Rift. It was the Eternal Nightmare who stole the show, punishing Nongshim with relentless pressure. Keria, once again on Bard, delivered a good performance that helped T1 maintain full control throughout the match. With that, T1 wrapped up the series in dominant fashion, securing a clean 2-0 and finishing the week undefeated.

No LCK matches are scheduled over the next two days, with the competition set to resume on Wednesday, July 30. The day will kick off with DRX facing Dplus KIA, followed by a classic Telecom War between T1 and KT Rolster—a storied rivalry in the LCK. However, KT haven’t come out on top in over a year, with T1 winning the last seven series in a row.
