Gen.G are currently on an impressive run with 20 consecutive game wins and 14 best-of series victories in a row
What a way to wrap up the week in the LCK. Hanwha Life Esports delivered a solid performance against DN Freecs, securing a well-deserved victory. Choi "Zeus" Woo-je was once again the standout player, putting on a dominant display and earning the MVP of the series. It was a clean and controlled showing from Hanwha, who continue to look strong as the split progresses.
The headline match of the week, Gen.G vs. T1, lived up to the expectations despite not going to three games. The series was intense from the start, with Game 1 standing out as a particularly entertaining clash. Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu stepped up in the jungle with clutch Smites, proving instrumental in both wins. Still, it was Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon who walked away with the MVP honors—much to his own surprise—highlighting once again just how central he is to Gen.G’s continued dominance.
Zeus, god of the rift
After last Thursday’s loss to KT Rolster, HLE needed to bounce back today against the Freecs—and they delivered. The first game was fairly close, with DNF holding a slight lead early on. At the 27-minute mark, a Baron fight secured by Hong "Pyosik" Chang-hyeon gave them a glimmer of hope, but the momentum quickly shifted. A massive teamfight immediately after saw Zeus pick up a quadrakill on Kennen, wiping out the Freecs and securing the opening game of the series.
Game two once again revolved around the god of thunder himself. Zeus put on another stellar performance, topping the damage charts on Vladimir and boasting over 80% kill participation. The two-time world champion is currently in incredible form—arguably the best player in the world right now.
Invincible and dominant
The first game of the series between the two titans started off strong for Gen.G, who steadily built up a lead by picking off kills one by one. But T1 weren’t far behind—in fact, they managed to stay in the game with clutch plays here and there. Around the 29-minute mark, a fight broke out in the river, and that’s when T1 truly came alive. Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun led the charge with a well-timed engage, helping his team secure a clean ace and take the gold lead.
The game turned scrappy, with skirmishes breaking out all over the map, and Chovy was simply outstanding—dodging every charm Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok threw at him and finding clutch engages on Azir. The defining moment came at Elder Dragon: despite holding the lead, T1 forced a risky 50/50 on the objective, and Canyon came out on top, stealing the drake and sealing the win for Gen.G.
Game two may have been a bit less explosive, but it was equally high level. Gen.G had the upper hand for most of it, though their draft lacked the tools to quickly take down Baron Nashor. T1 took advantage by starting the objective themselves, but once again, Canyon came in clutch—this time with a Pantheon ultimate—swooping in to steal the Baron and deliver the game, and the series, to Gen.G after a thrilling best-of-three.
Next week, the LCK returns on Wednesday with a highly anticipated showdown between the league’s top two teams, Gen.G and HLE. Later that day, the Freecs and DRX will face off in a crucial series at the bottom of the standings, with both teams desperate for a win to stay in the race.
