End of the run for KT Rolster on September 27 as they fall to a clean sweep against Gen.G in the lower bracket final. The reigning MSI champions now advance to the LCK grand final to challenge Hanwha Life Esports for the unique domestic title of the year. HLE will aim to defend their crown on Sunday while also securing Korea’s first seed for Worlds.

This marks Gen.G’s seventh consecutive LCK final. The last time they missed out was Summer 2021, when DWG KIA faced T1. Since then, they’ve been in every final: twice against T1 in 2022, twice again in 2023 versus the same opponent, and in 2024 against T1 first and then HLE. Gen.G have won four of their six finals so far, now looking to claim their fifth.

A completely one-sided series

Unlike their last meeting, where KT edged out a tight 3-2, this time it was a clean and surgical 3-0 for Gen.G. Game 1 opened with heavy skirmishing, constant movement, and plenty of kills. While the gold stayed even early, Gen.G clearly looked stronger in teamfights. That edge showed around the 26-minute mark, when they secured a drake fight and snowballed into Baron.

Even 10K gold behind, KT found a near-upset fight in the botlane, but Gen.G’s lead was overwhelming — the stat check simply outmatched the skill check. Game 2 started with Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong trying to dive Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, only to fail and hand over a solo kill to the Gen.G midlaner. From there, the game spiraled out of control, with Kim “Kiin” Gi-in’s dominant Aatrox performance sealing the stomp.

Game 3 followed the same pattern. KT repeatedly tried to force plays top, with Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan trading kills against Kiin, while the bot side saw more desperate attempts. But Joo “Duro” Min-kyu’s Alistar was unkillable, and slowly but surely the game slipped away. Gen.G closed it out with another decisive victory, completing the sweep and booking their spot in the LCK final against Hanwha Life Esports.
