Jiwoo leaves Nongshim RedForce after four years in the organization
AD Carry Jung "Jiwoo" Ji-woo joined DRX for the upcoming LCK season through a trade with Nongshim RedForce, as announced by both organizations on Tuesday. He will replace Park "Teddy" Jin-seong, who is leaving for OkSavingsBank BRION as previously reported by Sheep Esports.
Jiwoo leaves Nongshim RedForce after spending his entire early career with the Korean team. After a full season where Nongshim initially achieved satisfactory results, the team faced more difficulties in the second part with a struggling Jiwoo. He joins a team in search of good results since their world championship title in 2022.
A new project attempt?
DRX is doing a major overhaul of its roster after another season at the bottom of the league standings. Since the summer of 2023, the team has not made it to the playoffs and has lost its past grandeur, which had them participating in international competitions. This season, the team was among the first eliminated during the LCK Cup before falling into the Rise Group following the first phase of the season. After a 5-13 first phase, DRX did not improve in the second phase and finished second to last with nine wins and 21 losses across the entire LCK Season.
Can DRX achieves better results next year?
The team has made a lot of moves since the beginning of the offseason, with midlaner Kang "Kyeahoo" Yea-hoo joining Karmine Corp and AD Carry Teddy also leaving the team. To strengthen themselves, the team will call upon a young but LCK-level AD Carry with Jiwoo.
Although he was Nongshim's starting ADC throughout the season, Jiwoo had some difficult moments during the season. His team replaced him a few times with Ha "Vital" In-seong or Kim "Trigger" Eui-joo, tho these changes didn't last very long. While the player started his career at Nongshim RedForce Academy in 2022 before joining the LCK in the summer of 2023. He joins a new project and will try to take a step forward with DRX and bring the team back to the top of the LCK standings to participate in international events again. Other changes are expected to be made in the roster notably in the jungle positon.
