The LCP MVP and Rookie of the Year, HongQ, is joining JD Gaming alongside his jungler Junjia
JD Gaming are making four roster changes ahead of the 2026 season. Peng "Xun" Li-Xun has returned to Bilibili Gaming, while Lee "Scout" Ye-chan and Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan have both gone back to Korea, joining Nongshim RedForce and T1 respectively. Wang "Zhuo" Xu-Zhuo has signed with Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The sole survivor of all these changes is toplaner Xu “Xiaoxu” Xing-Zu, who put together a fairly strong year despite playing in a roster that never truly clicked. He will be joined by Yu “JunJia” Chun-Chia and the LCP season MVP, Tsai “HongQ” Ming-Hong. The botlane will be handled by Chen “GALA” Wei and Zhao “Vampire” Zhe-Can.
A sense of continuity for HongQ
LCP Rookie of the Year and League Awards Rookie winner, HongQ was highly sought after following a hugely successful year with CTBC Flying Oyster. Like many top players from the Pacific region, he is making the move to the LPL, following the path of Huang “Maple” Yi-Tang back in 2019.
He won’t be completely out of his element, as JunJia is also returning to the LPL with him, where he previously played from 2020 to 2023 with EDward Gaming and Rare Atom. With EDG, he won the 2021 LPL Summer Split, but was not part of the roster that went on to win the World Championship later that year.
An explosive botlane
A two-time LPL champion, two-time MSI winner, the second player in history with the most pentakills (11), renowned for his legendary Kai’Sa, JDG are securing the services of a world-class player in GALA. He joins after a high-level year with Invictus Gaming and will be the most experienced player on the roster at just 24 years old.
Alongside him will be a young support. At only 20, Vampire has completed his second full year in the LPL. His first season, split between EDward Gaming and iG, was rather difficult, but his second year was spent entirely with Team WE. There, the team showed flashes of strong form, especially in Split 2, where Vampire formed a solid botlane with Kim “Taeyoon” Tae-yoon, as well as an excellent jungle–support duo with Wang “Monki” Meng-Qi.
The project in good hands
Despite making four roster changes, the most important addition for JDG may not be among the players, but on the coaching staff. Ming “Clearlove” Kai has left the team, making way for a major figure: Wong “Tabe” Pak Kan joins from Anyone’s Legend after nearly two years there, where he built a project capable of winning Worlds—something he had already accomplished with Bilibili Gaming in 2023.
With Tabe, JDG secure the services of a true project builder. Under his guidance, BLG were shaped into the powerhouse they are today: Worlds semifinalists in 2023 and finalists in 2024. Even after his departure, the core he developed went on to win two league titles.
At Anyone’s Legend, he took over a bottom-tier team and completely transformed it while changing only two players. The team went on to win Split 2 in 2025 and was arguably one of the strongest teams at Worlds, falling to T1 in the quarterfinals—leaving many to wonder how far they could have gone if not stopped by an even greater force.
