Myrwn, Elyoya, Jojopyun, Supa and Alvaro are confirmed to play in LEC 2026
On November 11, Ibai Llanos, co-owner of Movistar KOI, and Sergio "SergioFFerra" Salcedo hosted a talkshow on the KOI Twitch channel to discuss key updates about MKOI's League of Legends team and organization. The main news of the day is that the LEC roster will remain the same as in 2025 for the 2026 season.
They also expanded on their discussions about their academy strategy, explaining that KOI plans to follow in the footsteps of Karmine Corp by investing in a lower-tier team. This approach aims to enhance their ability to discover and develop new talent, ultimately strengthening and feeding into their LEC roster.
Trust in the 2025 roster
Ibai confirmed that the 2025 lineup will remain intact for another year, as all players have contracts extending into 2026. The organization expresses strong trust in the project, signaling confidence in the current roster’s potential to achieve success over the next season.
MKOI are actively negotiating to extend contracts with important figures like head coach Tomás "Melzhet" Campelos, as well as players Javier "Elyoya" Prades, Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun, and Álvaro "Alvaro" Fernández del Amo, aiming for agreements that span beyond 2027. The renewal talks are progressing well, with Jojopyun notably happy about his experience playing in Europe.
On the other hand, David "Supa" Garcia and Alex "Myrwn" Villarejo are not currently part of these discussions but "understand why this is the case". Even though they are not the club's priority, there remains a possibility for them to re-sign later in 2026 during the year depending on their motivation and performance.
Expanding the team and enhancing the academy
Next year, MKOI plan to add two new members to the staff, enhancing the support structure behind the players. They are also focused on strengthening their academy team, which will be closely tied to the main LEC roster. Like last Summer 2025, Melzhet will play a critical role in shaping this academy and determining which two players will rotate between the academy and the main team.
Also, by drawing inspiration from successful models like Karmine Corp in the French ecosystem, MKOI aim to develop their Movistar KOI Fénix in the Spanish league, and also integrate the tier-3 of the Spanish esports scene. These academies will focus on discovering young, lesser-known Spanish players with exceptional talent who could "rise to the LEC within two years". This system is designed to foster competition, motivating the main roster while cultivating emerging prospects for the future.
