This year was Baus’s rookie year, he won three NLC splits and two EMEA Masters
After Los Ratones’ elimination in the semifinals of the EMEA Masters Summer Split with a clean sweep against Karmine Corp Blue, Simon "TheBaus" Hofverberg spoke about his future with LR, his desire to keep streaming, and his thoughts on the end of the year and the issues he’s been facing with his playstyle.
TheBaus first mentioned that there could be a future for him with Los Ratones. For context, as previously reported by Sheep Esports, LR will take part in the LEC Kickoff Tournament during the Winter Split thanks to their 2025 results at EMEA Masters, with two titles and a semifinal. Talking about this year, Baus said: “At LR, we had coaches and people telling us what to do and giving strategies and meta. It was up to the players to listen or not. I just want to play my own game.”
A passive toplane meta
The reasons why the Swedish toplaner is unsure whether he’ll play next year are varied. First, there’s the toplane meta, which he finds very passive and boring — and he’s not wrong. We can see it even now at the ongoing Worlds: the most played champions are Sion and K’Sante, with a lot of weak side play and very little proactivity or freedom given to toplaners —
TheBaus said: “I don’t want to get to a point in my life where I get bored of the game. I don’t want to turn into waking up and playing passive under tower for five hours every day. That’s not what I want to do or how I want to play. Best case, if I can grief and int in pro play — but then the mood in the team won’t be good. If enemy toplaner is 10/0, Crownie (Juš Marušič) will lose it.”
The importance of streaming
The streamer also talked about his streams and how the second half of the year went for them, especially during the EMEA Masters, stating that the team scrimmed a lot without streaming, even though he had originally joined Los Ratones because it allowed him to do so. Regarding next year, TheBaus said: “Depending on how next year looks, we are turning more and more into a professional athlete team, and I have no place in that.” He then confirmed his stance on his streaming career: “I will not give up my streaming career to be a pro player. If I can do both, that’s great.”
