The LCP Team of the Year features Kiaya, Junjia, HongQ, Doggo, and Taki
Tsai "HongQ" Ming-Hong was named both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP). The 18-year-old Taiwanese midlaner just completed a remarkable rookie season, dominating the LCP alongside his team, CTBC Flying Oyster, who won all three splits of the year.
This achievement made them the only team in the world to have qualified for every international event — the First Stand, the Mid-Season Invitational, and the upcoming Worlds, set to begin on October 14 in Beijing, China.
An impressive debut
Born on July 2, 2007, HongQ began competing in the academy circuit at the age of 15 in 2022. He joined CFO’s academy at the start of 2024 and went on to win the PCL Spring Split. He started the Summer Split with the academy team but was later called up to the PCS main roster, where he only got to play a single best-of series. In 2025, at just 17 years old, he officially joined CTBC Flying Oyster in the LCP. The team dominated the split and qualified for the First Stand, where the young midlaner proved capable of standing toe-to-toe with some of the best midlaners in the world.
In Spring, the team became even more dominant, further cementing their status as LCP’s top contender, and flew to Vancouver for the MSI. In the opening match, HongQ faced none other than Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and T1. In a pre-match interview with Sheep Esports, the CFO midlaner said, “It’s normal for fans to have high expectations for us [...] It will be a lot of fun to lane against Faker.” Despite the loss, HongQ’s series was impressive, showing that the LCP wasn’t to be underestimated at this MSI. CFO even eliminated Movistar KOI, Europe’s first seed, before falling to the LPL champions, Anyone’s Legend.
Back in the LCP for the Summer Split, CFO once again delivered a dominant performance — not dropping a single best-of series and extending their unbeaten streak in the league to 23 series, a record they still hold today. HongQ has been by far the best player in the league, all while still in his rookie year.
