GALA leaves Invictus Gaming and joins JD Gaming
JD Gaming will enter 2026 with an almost entirely rebuilt roster. After several changes over the past few days, the organisation has now announced the final addition to its lineup on social media. AD Carry Chen "GALA" Wei will join JDG, becoming the fourth major roster move made during this offseason.
One year after joining Invictus Gaming, GALA will once again change environments and move to another top-tier LPL organisation—one seeking to reclaim its former glory with a renewed project. It is an ambition he shares, as his last LPL title dates back to Spring 2022.
A team ready to contend for the title?
With this new reinforcement, JDG appears well-prepared to once again dream of LPL titles—something the organisation has not achieved since the 2023 Summer Split, the same year the team came close to completing the Golden Road. With the arrival of the mid-jungle duo from CTBC Flying Oysters, Tsai "hongQ" Ming-hong and Yu "JunJia" Chun-chia, along with Zhao "Vampire" Zhecan, who will assist GALA, JDG may finally be able to move past two disappointing seasons.
The team will be led by Wong "Tabe" Pak-kan, a coach renowned in the LPL for elevating every roster he leads—and someone with whom GALA previously worked at Royal Never Give Up between 2020 and 2022. For his part, GALA joins a project designed to disrupt the established order at the top of the league. This year with Invictus Gaming, he once again demonstrated his prowess on hyper carries, asserting himself as arguably the best in his role throughout the league.
He secured two pentakills within a matter of days during Split 3, including one of the first recorded on the new champion Yunara. Yet despite a strong regular season, IG collapsed at the end of the split. Although GALA qualified for Worlds for the fifth consecutive year, IG was eliminated by T1 in the play-ins and went no further. GALA therefore parts ways with his former team and sets off for a new challenge with JDG.
