The Liga Nexo is within reach for G2 Hel.
Spain might be about to get a taste of Hel, as G2 Esports are now poised to fight for a spot in Liga Nexo—the region’s second tier, just below the Superliga. Having competed in the League of Legends Circuito Tormenta, Spain’s open circuit, since late January, the squad has clinched a place in the upcoming promotion tournament with a third-place finish in the split's overall rankings. Now, they’ll aim to secure one of the two available spots in Liga Nexo, with their first best-of-three match set to take place on Thursday, May 1, against Sportia Khore at 19:00 CEST on W2ATV's Twitch Channel.

No Easy Wins Here
Despite recent results marking G2 Hel as statistical favorites, Sportia Khore are far from a team to underestimate, especially in a BO3 setting. The two squads have only clashed once in the past three months, and that encounter was anything but decisive—G2 narrowly came out on top after a back-and-forth game, salvaged by a clutch Tristana performance from new midlaner Rym “rym” Salloum. With revenge on their minds and a Liga Nexo spot on the line, Sportia Khore return with momentum, having recently claimed titles at both the Granada Premium Cup and the Toledo Matsuri, while G2 Hel have failed to secure a tournament title since the TRIFORC3 TOURNAMENT in early February.
Rather evenly matched on an individual level, the outcome of the match will likely be decided by teamplay and synergy. Over the past few months, G2 Hel has gradually developed stronger coordination following the addition of Rym and toplaner Zeniv. To secure a win, the squad will need to enable their Hispanic mid-jungle duo and look to empower Marta "Shiina" Garrido, who has been a pivotal factor in many of the team's victories. Meanwhile, Maya "Caltys" Henckel and Ève "Colomblbl" Monvoisin have remained the team’s steady pillars—Caltys providing a reliable, back-seat carry presence, while Colomblbl continues to lead the charge with proactive, high-impact play.
While her stats may not position her as a standout carry, Zeniv remains an important component of the squad. Often left to her own devices, the German toplaner has carved out a style centered around forcing opponents to commit resources to her side of the map. She's almost exclusively known for picking carry-oriented champions such as Irelia, Vayne, Camille, or even Fiora.

A Long Road to the Liga Nexo
But the road doesn’t end here. Whichever team emerges victorious will still have to face Dream Makers, the eighth-place finisher from Split 2 of the Liga Nexo, in a final relegation match to seal promotion (Note: no official date has been announced yet). All the action can be followed live on W2ATV, one of Circuito Tormenta’s broadcasting partners, with brackets and schedules available on Leaguepedia.
A promotion to Spain's second tier of competition would mark one of the most significant achievements by a League of Legends all-women team in recent years. While G2 Hel previously competed in the NLC’s 2nd Division in 2024, they were directly invited and ultimately fell short of expectations, finishing last with a cumulative record of 2–16. A win here would represent the team’s strongest organic result to date in a mixed-gender competitive environment.
