More than 10 years later, Faker scores his second ever pentakill
Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok secured the second pentakill of his long and storied career this morning, playing Ahri against DRX—just one day after his 29th birthday. His first pentakill came over a decade ago in the LCK Spring 2015, on LeBlanc during a series against NaJin e-mFire. This latest one is especially symbolic for the League of Legends GOAT, as it came on Ahri, one of his signature champions. Fittingly, when inducted into the Hall of Legends, Faker chose two champions for his commemorative skins: LeBlanc and Ahri. The circle is now complete.
An unmatched longevity
Pentakills may be rare, but trophies and longevity are certainly not lacking—Faker’s career is a testament to endurance, perseverance, and consistent excellence. Over twelve years since it began, his journey includes two pentakills, five World Championships with two Finals MVP titles, two MSI titles, and ten LCK championships. The Unkillable Demon King continues to showcase his brilliance on Summoner’s Rift, to the delight of League of Legends fans around the world.
Back in 2015, T1 finished second in the regular season, just one win behind the GE Tigers. They then went on to win the playoffs, defeating CJ Entus and GE Tigers in the final—a final in which Faker didn’t play, as Lee "Easyhoon" Ji-hoon stepped in. Fast forward to 2025, and T1 are currently third in the regular season, slightly behind Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports. But if the last few years have shown anything, it’s that underestimating T1 always ends up with Faker giving a thumbs up next to the Summoner’s Cup once again.
