BLG are out of the EWC after just three games
Day 2 of the Esports World Cup ends with four teams eliminated. The remaining group stage BO1s kicked off this Thursday, with Movistar KOI getting their revenge on CTBC Flying Oyster after their MSI loss, knocking them out and advancing to the quarterfinals. In the other BO1, FlyQuest eliminated FURIA, the sole representatives from LTA South.
The quarterfinals of the EWC 2025 shifted to a best-of-three format, raising the stakes for all teams. Anyone’s Legend, playing under the AG.AL banner, defeated Hanwha Life Esports 2–1 to secure their place in the semifinals. On the other side, G2 Esports finally managed to beat Bilibili Gaming, eliminating them in a three-game series and achieving their first ever win over BLG after four previous encounters accross various competitions. For Bilibili Gaming, this loss meant a swift exit from the Esports World Cup, as they were knocked out after just one series, a reflection of the tournament’s condensed and unforgiving schedule.
The LCK vs the West
The two remaining quarterfinals will be played on July 18, starting at 11 AM CET. The first will see MSI finalists, reigning EWC and Worlds champions T1, face off against LEC champions Movistar KOI. Up next, the back-to-back MSI winners in 2024 and 2025, Gen.G, will take on LTA North champions FlyQuest. The bracket then places the winner of T1 vs KOI against Anyone's Legend, while the winner of Gen.G vs FlyQuest will meet G2.

The two semifinals will be played in BO3 format on July 19, while the third-place match will also be a BO3 on July 20. It will be followed by the grand final—the only BO5 of the entire tournament. The prize pool is quite substantial: despite early exits, both BLG and HLE walk away with $110,000 each. CFO and FURIA earned $75,000 apiece, while GAM Esports and Cloud9 each took home 2.5% of the total prize pool, amounting to $50,000.
