LCK broadcast mainstay set to step away at year's end
Maurits "Chronicler" Jan Meeusenon, one of the premier casters in the League of Legends esports ecosystem, has announced he’ll be leaving at the end of the year. The Dutch caster joined the LCK Global broadcast team in 2021, after two years of casting in various ERLs. Since then, Chronicler has become a core part of what makes watching the LCK so great. One of the most analytical color casters in the scene, his passion for the game is evident in every cast.
Chronicler has cast every LCK split since his debut, and is a regular at international events. That includes three international final series: the 2023 World Finals, the 2024 MSI Finals, and the most recent international finals, at the 2025 First Stand. Two of those finals were cast with frequent partner Max “Atlus” Anderson, a play-by-play whose casts as a duo alongside Chronicler were a fan-favorite for LCK watchers. His dedication to the Korean LoL scene goes beyond the LCK, also an avid fan and frequent caster of the LCK Challengers League.
What's next for Chronicler and the LCK
In the statement posted to Chronicler’s social media, he outlined why he decided to step away from LoL. The caster explained that he intends to spend more time with his friends and family, including his wife, who lives in the Netherlands. He also stated that he'd likely continue personally costreaming LCK CL games, showing just how devoted he is to the league.
The post saw a widespread outpouring of love from fans and colleagues alike in the LoL community: like the aforementioned Atlus, former caster and popular streamer Marc “Caedrel” Lamont, and other members of the League scene who worked with Chronicler.
Chronicler’s post quoted the LCK Global Broadcast’s public announcement calling for new casters and broadcast talent to apply to join. While one of the icons of the broadcast will be stepping away at the end of the year, new faces may join soon to fill Chronicler’s big shoes.
