The World Championship makes its long-awaited return to China after five years
The 2025 Worlds will be held in China. Although the 2024 Worlds won't conclude in London until November 2, Riot Games has already revealed the news in a statement originally meant to announce the renewal of the partnership between LoL Esports and OPPO. Details about the host cities are expected to be announced, likely after this year's Worlds final, as is typically the case.
China has already hosted several international events, including the 2016 MSI in Shanghai and this year’s MSI in 2024 in Chengdu. This marks the return of the competition to China, which is set to host League of Legends’ most prestigious tournament for the third time, following finals held in Beijing in 2017 and Shanghai in 2020. On both occasions, a Korean team claimed victory. Perhaps now is the time for the LPL to secure its first world title on home soil.
