The top 3 of the 2024 LEC Season Finals is the same as it was in 2023
The Seasons Finals of the LEC - the League of Legends EMEA Championship - represent the final stages of the season in the region. After three splits, the six best teams of the year compete in a BO5 playoffs for the title of LEC champion. This year, G2 Esports, Fnatic, Team BDS, MAD Lions KOI, SK Gaming and GiantX took part in the Season Finals. The first four started the competition in the upper bracket and were therefore entitled to one mistake. SK and GX, seeds 5 and 6, on the other hand, started the SF in the lower bracket and couldn't afford to lose a single game.
G2's Grand Slam
G2 became the first European team to accomplish the grand slam in the LEC by winning all 4 possible titles this year after defeating Fnatic 3-1 in the grand final. This brought the black and orange to their eighth loss in a European final in a row, mostly against their biggest rival. Indeed, the Samurais won the seven last finals between the two teams since the last FNC title, in 2018.
The Season Finals were also the opportunity to determine the two teams that will accompany G2 - who had already qualified thanks to their victory at the Summer Split - to the Worlds. Despite their respective loss against G2 in Munich, Fnatic and MDK will therefore also be present at the 2024 edition of the biggest competition in the LoL esports ecosystem.
