Junglers will benefit from an upgraded Smite
Riot Games is introducing Role Quests in Season 1 of 2026, aiming to give players meaningful progression for their roles. While details on specific requirements or timings of Role Quests have yet to be revealed, Riot said they will feel similar to the current jungle and support quests.
“Role quests function similarly to what jungler and support quests function today: you will require stacks over time, and upon compilation, you’ll get a reward,” said Bryan Salvatore, Director of Game Design on League of Legends.
Players progress in Role Quests by CSing minions, fighting enemies, taking towers, and assisting with objectives, which mirrors the mechanics familiar to junglers and supports. However, details on specific requirements or timings of Role Quests have yet to be revealed.
Toplane quest’s reward
Toplaners will receive the biggest changes, designed to make the solo lane feel more strategic and satisfying to play. Toplaners will get Teleport automatically upgraded if picked in Champ Select as a Summoner Spell, or come with a cooldown if not.
Toplanes will also gain more XP from all sources and an increased level cap of 20, giving them more tools to impact fights and objectives later in the game. It is currently unknown which bonus stats level 20 will give, nor which impact it will have on the champion’s abilities.
These rewards aim to make toplane more engaging, allowing solo laners to contribute meaningfully to both split-pushing and teamfighting, which should improve the experience of playing the lane from early to late game.
Jungle and midlane quests’s rewards
Junglers will benefit from an upgraded Smite, which deals more damage, along with extra gold and XP from jungle camps, and bonus movement speed in the jungle, which makes clearing faster and more efficient.
Midlaners will receive an empowered recall and a reworked Tier 3 Boots upgrade, giving them stronger roaming power and the ability to influence other lanes while maintaining a solid presence in mid. Together, jungle and midlane quests encourage cross-lane coordination and map control, which strengthens team play across Summoner’s Rift.
ADCs and supports’ quests
Botlane quests work as a coordinated system that rewards teamwork between ADCs and supports. ADCs gain a lump sum of gold, increased gold gain for the rest of the game, and a seventh item slot, giving them extra late-game potential. Supports receive discounts on control wards, more gold over time, and a new control ward slot, making vision control easier and more strategic — which would work greatly with the new Faelights system.
Role Quests represent a major step in making Summoner’s Rift more role-driven and rewarding. By giving each lane meaningful rewards that connect to the team’s overall strategy, Riot hopes players will feel their contributions matter more and that every role becomes more satisfying to play in 2026.
