"I don’t think it’s any one of us standing out above the others—it’s our teamwork"
KT Rolster have pulled off one of the biggest upsets at Worlds 2025. Entering the tournament largely underestimated and with minimal expectations, the squad now finds themselves in the Grand Finals, having dropped only a single nexus and defeating tournament favorites Gen.G along the way. Continuing their dream run, the third-seeded League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) representative continue to wreak havoc, awaiting their final opponent with the goal of claiming their first Worlds trophy. In an exclusive interview, jungler Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan sat down with Sheep Esports to discuss the team’s meteoric rise, what makes KT so special, and the sacrifices he has made.
How does it feel to reach the Worlds finals for the first time in your career?
Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan: “Ever since I joined KT, we had such bad results, and I told myself that I would be so happy if we at least made it to Worlds once. We finally made it to the quarterfinals this year, but then we reached the semifinals, only to defeat the favorites of Worlds 2025, Gen.G. Reaching the finals feels like such a dream come true. This is something I had always dreamt of. Now that we’ve made it, I really want to make it count.
You’ve been competing for about eight years and only been to Worlds twice before this year. What sacrifice did you make along the way to get here?
Cuzz: Throughout my whole professional career, I had my eyes set on just one thing: winning Worlds. It never went as planned, which is why it took eight years for me to reach the finals for the first time. As a professional gamer, of course, I’m treated very well, but being in the team house and away from my friends—that lifestyle over such a long period—means I don’t have many memories or much time spent with them. That’s something I’ve sacrificed as an adult. In the end, because of that sacrifice, I was able to make it this far, all the way to the finals, so I’m pretty happy about that.
Today you played Dr. Mundo in game four. Did you take inspiration from G2’s jungler, Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan?
Cuzz: Yeah, I definitely got some inspiration from G2’s SkewMond. During practice against his team, I struggled against Dr. Mundo—it gave me such a hard time. After taking a closer look at Dr. Mundo as a champion, I felt like this was something I could play well. So I tried to grind him in solo queue and also picked him once during scrims, and I felt like he was really good. In the end, I did get inspiration from SkewMond, and I want to thank him for that idea.
Everyone is talking about Gwak "Bdd" Bo-sung, who has been very close to you for some time. Do you think he’s in contention to be the best midlaner in the world, or maybe one of the best players overall?
Cuzz: Yeah, honestly, he has the skill set to become the best player in the world. Playing alongside Bdd for such a long time, I can say this with confidence: the Bdd–Cuzz duo—no one else can match us. Our synergy is unmatchable. I want to make sure we’re able to showcase it and keep it up.
What do you think makes KT so magical?
Cuzz: I don’t think it’s any one of us standing out above the others—it’s our teamwork. It’s everyone combined, our collaborative efforts. It’s our coaches, and also all the front staff of KT who care so well for us and their players. Despite how difficult the journey was, they’ve always followed us through it all. They have such resilience that we just don’t know how to give up, and it allows us to push through and keep practicing. All the prep work everyone puts in and the collaborative effort is what really makes us that magical team.
You'll be facing T1 in the finals for a Telecom Wars matchup. How are you going to prepare, and are you excited?
Cuzz: To be honest, I really didn't want it to become a Telecom War. I hoped it wouldn't happen, so I’m not excited. I’m honestly concerned in a way. But given that we were able to defeat Gen.G, get through the Switch Stage, and win our way to finals, I don’t think our opponent will really matter. We just have to focus on our own plays. No matter who our opponent is—even T1—I just want to make sure we win this time.
What will your mindset be heading into the finals?
Cuzz: To be honest, I’ve always said that I want to make it to Worlds, go to the finals, and win it all. This is my moment—I finally have this opportunity, and I don’t want to miss it. I really want to make it work and take it home this time.”
