From KOI to Ronin
Ibai Llanos, Spain’s biggest streamer and the founder of KOI, is now venturing into traditional 11-a-side football. On Monday, August 5, he officially announced the creation of Ronin FC. Designed as a brand-new project, this football club will kick off its inaugural season in the Catalan fourth division, with its first match scheduled for Sunday, September 21 at 12 PM (CET), against the local team from Vallirana.
This move isn’t Ibai’s first step into the world of sports. With 19.8 million followers on Twitch, he’s already known for organizing massive live events and for managing his own team in the Kings League.
Teased for weeks
The much-anticipated reveal of Ronin FC came during a livestream that had been teased for weeks. With the iconic music from the anime Inazuma Eleven playing in the background, the Spanish streamer explained the club’s name — a direct reference to the "ronin," the masterless samurai from medieval Japan. The influence of Japanese culture was clear, and so was Ibai’s ambition. He also shared his plans to broadcast all the matches on his Twitch channel and, for the club’s launch, announced that entry to the games would be completely free.

So, this isn’t the first time he’s invested in sports — far from it. Ibai has already been involved in boxing events and, more notably, in the Kings League, a football competition co-created with his KOI business partner, Gerard Piqué. There, he was crowned World Champion in 2024 and runner-up in 2025 with his team Porcinos FC. Now, perhaps seeking a new challenge beyond the Kings League, Ibai is diving into traditional football — starting from the country’s tenth tier. The goal? Climbing the ladder step by step, and maybe, just maybe, reaching La Liga one day.
