Nineteen minutes, that was all
needed to secure their opening victory against MIBR.LOS at the
Esports World Cup. In what looked like a heavily one-sided matchup between the Korean team and the CBLOL's second seed, HLE demonstrated their superiority just days
after lifting their first Mid-Season Invitational trophy.
Having also claimed his maiden MSI title after several unsuccessful attempts, AD Carry
arrives in Paris with plenty of momentum as he looks to add another international trophy to his collection this weekend. Following HLE's opening match, he spoke with
Sheep Esports about the past few weeks and his team's recent success.
What is your first feeling after today's game?
Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung: "Our schedule has been really busy this time, so we didn't have much time to prepare and I was a bit worried. But I'm happy we were able to take such a clean win.
How are you feeling going into another competition after winning MSI? Do you feel you are still in the momentum of the competition?
Gumayusi: I'm putting a lot of effort into managing myself physically, so I'd say it's not bad. And since we won MSI, I want to ride this momentum and win EWC too.
You won MSI. It was your first title since you left T1. A lot of people, the fans, were doubting your ability to win without T1. So what does it feel like to win your first title without them?
Gumayusi: Even when I made the move, I had firm belief and confidence in myself. So I kept believing I could achieve a result like this, kept working for it, and that's how I earned it, I think.
You're gonna have a lot of games, finishing MSI, going to EWC, and then going back to LCK. How are you dealing with the amount of games for it to not impact your performance?
Gumayusi: I think the best thing is to sleep well, eat well, and mix in some exercise."
