"I believe we can become the best bot duo"
Hanwha Life Esports’ newest addition, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, made his debut with the team this week during the 2025 KeSPA Cup. He gave one of his first post-match interviews to Fomos Esports while wearing his new jersey, sharing his thoughts on debuting with his new team.
Despite his past success, he admitted to feeling the nerves. “It was my first match with a new team and new teammates, so I was actually really nervous. I’m normally not the type to get nervous, but I did this time,” he shared. “Thanks to how well my teammates played, though, I felt comfortable and could trust them throughout the game.”
Although the new roster has only been playing together for less than a week, Gumayusi said the environment already feels familiar. “It’s almost like I’ve been here for a long time. Our teamwork and overall direction will come together naturally under the coach’s guidance,” he said. Building chemistry seems to be progressing quickly both in and out of the game, emphasizing how “all the players are really nice and sociable.” So far, this also shows during games as HLE is still undefeated after four matches in the competition.
Reuniting with Zeus, learning with Delight
This move to HLE reunites Gumayusi with Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, his longtime T1 teammate. “I’ve played with Zeus for a long time, so it feels completely natural—no awkwardness at all. He’s such a good player that I’m looking forward to the plays we’ll show in the future,” he said. In the botlane, he now pairs with Kim “Delight” Dong-min, whose aggression and supportive instincts impressed him early on: “He’s a support with a big strength in starting fights and making the AD carry’s life comfortable. I think syncing up with him is going to be fun, and I believe we can become the best bot duo.”
Gumayusi also expressed excitement about working under Head Coach Yoon "Homme" Sung-young, someone he had admired since before joining. “I first found out about Coach Yoon through an interview where he ‘sold me out’ in a good way,” he joked. “After talking with him during negotiations, I could feel his leadership and clear sense of direction… He’s going to lead this team forward without hesitation.”
Looking ahead and back at T1
When asked about his decision to join HLE, the botlaner explained that the respect showed towards him and the potential of the roster played a key role: “I thought a lot about what my goals are going to be as I continue my pro career. HLE showed a lot of respect for me and didn’t lack anything, so I decided to move forward together with them.”
Facing his former team, T1, is something he’s both anticipating and respecting. “Because I’ve played with those players for so long, I know their strengths very clearly. They’ll be tricky opponents—and now there’s Peyz (Kim Su-hwan), who’s a really good player too. But I trust my teammates, and I think we’ll be able to put on a great match and win.”
