The path to the
Rocket League FIFAe World Cup is now set in stone with five new LANs to take place this year. The tournament organizer has announced that the second phase of its tournament, the
Continental Championships, will occur on LAN across five different locations around the world including Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro, Casablanca, Mexico City, and Lisbon.
These five LANs will encompass three weeks of action, starting from August 19 and concluding on September 06, 2026. They will be used to determine which national squads will feature at the World Finals later this year. Currently, teams from six regions are battling in the preliminary phase of the competition, the Nations League, earning points across three weeks to qualify for the Continental Championships.
Locations and dates announced
While in the two previous FIFAe World Cups, all stages were online competitions up until the main event, which took place in Riyadh, FIFAe has made a considerable expansion to its tournament circuit this year. Each region will have a Continental Championship to determine which of its FIFA membership associations will reach the FIFAe World Finals. While the number of slots differs for each region, teams can qualify for the Continental Championship after three weeks of play in the Nations League.
Squads earn consistency points through high placements in both the group and knockout stages of each week, which contribute to an overall regional ranking that determines who receives a spot at the Continental Championship. Alternatively, teams can earn automatic qualification with a high placement in the final knockout stage of the Nations League in week three. Week two of the Nations League has just been completed, with week three set to begin on June 15.
After qualifying for the Continental Championship, each national team will have to field a lineup at its region’s offline tournament. A total of 16 teams from these events will then move on to the World Finals. The LAN locations and their dates are as follows:
- Asia/Oceania: Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia, 19 - 23 August
- South America: Rio De Janeiro - Brazil, 21 - 23 August
- Africa: Casablanca - Morocco, 27-29 August
- North/Central America: Mexico City - Mexico, 28 - 30 August
- Europe: Lisbon - Portugal, 01-06 September
Each region has received a different amount of slots for their event:
- Asia/Oceania: 8 slots*
- Africa: 8 slots
- South America: 4 slots
- North/Central America: 6 slots
- Europe: 12 slots
The Asia/Oceania Continental Championship will be a combination of teams from Asia West, featuring Middle Eastern lineups like Saudi Arabia, and Asia East + Oceania which features teams like Australia.
Potential scheduling clashes
The
RLCS 2026 World Championship, the most important tournament in the calendar year, will take place from September 15 to 20. It is a key event for the RLCS elite, who often take weeks to prepare and bootcamp for the tournament. Many of these players are expected to feature for their national teams at the FIFAe World Cup. However, the European Continental Championship is scheduled to take place in early September, a time these players will dedicate to preparing for the World Championship.
As a result, sources close to the situation have suggested that there could be a scheduling clash for some players, with many European teams expected to field weaker lineups in Portugal. Considering Europe has a deep and strong collection of national teams, this could make the event a real bloodbath. Despite this depth, the Nations League has already proven to be a good proving ground for nations like France and England, who have tested more youthful or inexperienced rosters.
