Riot Games dominates the ceremony
The 10th Esports Awards took place this Wednesday, November 19, in Las Vegas, just a few months after a special anniversary edition held during the Esports World Cup to celebrate their ten-year milestone. The global League of Legends ecosystem dominated much of the ceremony, collecting a series of top honors—from Coach of the Year for Kim "Kim" Jung-su to Laure Valée, who took home the award for Esports Host of the Year.
Riot Games and the others
That dominance extended further as League of Legends was crowned Esports Game of the Year, a win that also secured Riot Games the title of Esports Publisher of the Year. This marks a return to glory for the MOBA, which had not claimed the award since 2020 after four consecutive years of VALORANT victories. In the past decade, Riot has now won the Publisher of the Year trophy eight times, letting it slip only twice—once to VALVE in 2016 and again to Blizzard in 2018.
Riot’s productions were also in the spotlight this year. Alongside Laure Valée as host, Clayton "CaptainFlowers" Raines earned Play-by-Play Caster of the Year, while Andrew "Vedius" Day took home the prize for Colour Caster of the Year. On the analytical side, Mimi "aEvilcat" Wermcrantz, known for her work on the VCT Americas desk, was named Esports Analyst of the Year.
A bit of Counter-Strike
The ceremony also highlighted the growth of the Indian esports scene, honoring Animesh “THUG” Agarwal as Esports Personality of the Year and awarding his organization, S8UL Esports, the title of Esports Content Group of the Year. In the team categories, Team Vitality’s Counter-Strike 2 roster triumphed as Esports Team of the Year, edging out strong contenders like Gen.G Esports from League of Legends and VALORANT’s world champion, NRG Esports.
Vitality’s French star Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaud continued his remarkable year by earning one of the ceremony’s most prestigious titles: Esports PC Player of the Year. He topped a stacked field that included Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon (Gen.G, LoL), Brock "brawk" Somerhalder (NRG, VAL), and Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto (PRX, VAL).
