"A very important part of being a pro player is to have enough confidence. We should make our own name for ourselves"
Despite suffering setbacks at the hands of Anyone's Legend, CTBC Flying Oyster stand proudly with a cumulative score of 2-1 heading into the second week of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage. Kings of the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), the Taiwanese representatives now await their next foe, hoping to make history and secure a spot in the bracket stage. In an exclusive interview, AD Carry Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan sat down with Sheep Esports to discuss his recent loss, his growth after leaving the LPL, and his relation with his teammates.
After that very close loss against Anyone’s Legend, how are you feeling right now? What do you think went wrong in the match?
Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan: “Overall we made a few mistakes in teamfights, especially the one around Atakhan. We didn’t handle that properly, and there were also a lot of small details throughout the game that we missed.
How do you feel about your team’s chances going into the next round?
Doggo: A very important part of being a pro player is to have enough confidence. If we lose a game, we can reflect on it and review the VODs after. But before every match, I always give myself 100% confidence so I can keep going.
Ling "Kaiwing" Kai Wing’s birthday is on the 27th, right after the Swiss stage. Wouldn’t qualifying for Bracket be the perfect gift for him?
Doggo: If we could win and qualify for his birthday, it would be awesome. But for now, we’re taking it one step at a time and focusing on the present and the next match at hand.
Do you have another gift planned for him?
Doggo: It’ll have to be a surprise. Maybe I’ll give him a cake since there’s not much I can work with here. If I give him something for his birthday, then he’ll have to return the favor when it’s my birthday, though.
After everything you went through in the LPL, what does it mean to be back at the top of the world today?
Doggo: We all have our highs and lows. When we win a game, we’re really happy, and when we lose, we’re very upset. That’s just how it is for any pro player, and it’s the mentality we need to have to deal with things.
What helped you turn your career around after your time with BLG and Ultra Prime? Is it a Wong "Chawy" Xing Lei diff?
Doggo: I definitely think part of the credit goes to my coach. But also, when we played at the Asian Games, I got to play with veterans like SwordArt (Hu Shuo-Chieh) and Karsa (Hung Hao-Hsuan), and playing with them really helped me improve my mentality and my overall understanding of the game.
The Flash Wolves were once known as the “Korean killers,” but Chawy said he wants CFO to have its own identity instead of being compared to them. What nickname would you like CFO to have by the end of the tournament?
Doggo: First of all, I 100% agree with Chawy. We should make our own name for ourselves. Depending on our performance, if we do really well, I believe our fans will come up with something for me.
Tsai "HongQ" Ming-Hong often takes pictures with players like Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and talks a lot about Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon. Does it ever annoy you that he’s such a fanboy?
Doggo: I’m not really annoyed by it at all, because I think every pro player has someone they idolize deep down and want to face or take down. But personally, I don’t like to look up to other players or talk about that, because if I do and then end up facing them on stage, I could risk losing my confidence and getting intimidated.
I heard HongQ fakes crying so you won’t hit him. Do you think he deserves to be teased for being a brat sometimes?
Doggo: HongQ is the kind of person who would still pull that kind of trick even when he’s 20 years old. I don’t think he’ll ever outgrow it. But no matter how old he gets, I’m fine with keeping this kind of banter between us.
What kind of music are you listening to these days?
Doggo: I listen to a variety of genres. If you really want to know, go to my Twitch channel, leave a comment in chat, and ask for my playlist there.
You and Kaiwing are the only players still under contract through 2026. Are you hoping this roster stays together next year?
Doggo: Even if the roster stays mostly the same, someone will probably leave by next year. For now, I just want to focus on myself, my own gameplay, and what I can do for our team.
Do you have any final words for the CFO fan?
Doggo: Although we faced a very formidable opponent in Anyone’s Legend, we’ll keep trying our best and do our best not to disappoint you guys in our next match.”
