"I always have confidence that I can win any given game, I can win against any single opponent"
Bilibili Gaming continue their ascension at the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational after eliminating FlyQuest, the last Western representative, in a 3-2 nail-biter of a series. Looking to prove their doubters wrong, BLG now prepare for an LPL Finals rematch against Anyone's Legend. In an exclusive interview, Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin discusses his latest victory, facing his Chinese rivals, and his newfound seriousness.
You look great! Have you been hitting the gym?
Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin: "I've just been to the gym a few times. We don’t have a lot of time because of the pressure from our matches and the tournament. I’ve just been eating and sleeping well. I didn’t really have time to go on a diet or work out as much as I’d like at the gym.
You’re still sweating a lot after this best-of-five. It seems like you put your whole body and mind into it. Was it more intense than a day at the gym?
Bin: I must say maybe playing on stage can be a tough task mentally, but physically speaking, training at the gym would be a tougher task still.
Today was your first time playing against Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau, who's known for his unique picks. How was the experience?
Bin: He really performed so well today, and I really enjoyed the game. Hopefully we can see each other again on the international stage. The laning phase was particularly fun.
You won today, but it was a close match. Did you expect such a tough fight from FlyQuest? After game four, were you still confident you’d win?
Bin: After game 4, we were a little anxious, but we felt that if we focused on ourselves and our plays, we'd still have a high chance to win. We had the confidence. Fortunately, game 5 went in our favor.
From FlyQuest’s match against Gen.G last year at Worlds, we already knew their potential, so we expected it to be a tough match. I don’t know if I’d say FlyQuest went beyond expectations since we already knew their strength. We made a lot of mistakes against them—we weren’t serious enough, which is maybe why it went to five games. Still, I really feel FlyQuest showed their potential, and big shout out to them—they did a great job today.
Today, the crowd was clearly supporting FlyQuest as the home team. Did that affect the match at all?
Bin: People love a good underdog story. It’s understandable that the audience would support FlyQuest today. We had similar support at MSI 2023, when not many people knew us in London—we were the underdogs. We know the feeling, so it’s understandable.
Next, you’ll face Anyone’s Legend. Do you think you have a lot to prove in this upcoming match considering the LPL Finals results?
Bin: It’ll be a tough best-of-five. In terms of momentum and their level of play, they’ve done a better job so far. I want to concentrate on my in-game performance and try my best to showcase a good performance on stage. I always have confidence that I can win any given game, I can win against any single opponent. And I’m definitely going to try my best to win the next best-of-five. Not only that one, but we’re also going to try our best to win the best-of-five against T1 and Gen.G.
AL expressed confidence about making it to MSI finals, and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon also thinks AL will be in the finals. What would you say to challenge that?
Bin: Anyone's Legend, Gen.G, and T1 are all super strong teams, but even if none of them believe in us, we should trust ourselves—that’s the key. Back in 2023, many people underestimated BLG, but we were still able to make it to finals. We did it then, so why couldn’t we do it again this time?
You said you'd stop joking around and take things more seriously. Why did you make that decision?
Bin: To have a better public perception... Just joking! It's a joke, please don't take it seriously.
Luo "ON" Wen-Jun said that he didn’t believe you when you said you'd only be serious now...
Bin: I believe winning is the most crucial part. If we keep winning, maybe I'll start making more jokes again in interviews.
Do you have any final words, maybe a message for your English-speaking fans?
Bin: [In English] Thank you. We will be better. I will be the champion at MSI. I will try my best."
