Counter Strike is the focus here
On September 5, 2025, Astralis A/S officially changed ownership, according to the Danish business register, as first reported by Richard Lewis in his newsletter. The entire organization, including all of its assets and competitive teams, has been acquired by Fusion Esports Group, a company led by Jakob Lund Kristensen, co-founder of BLAST and Astralis and a long-standing figure in Danish esports.
Between 2016 and 2019, BLAST and Astralis were managed by the same entity, RFRSH ENTERTAINMENT, before the two split up and the latter took up the position of Chief Revenue Officer in the new Astralis organization. He left this job in 2023, before returning to the project following this acquisition.
Losses and a change of strategy
The acquisition comes at a time of serious financial struggles. As revealed in early September by Sheep Esports, Astralis saw its consolidated revenue drop from €9.69 million in 2023 to just €4.4 million in 2024, with an EBITDA of –€4.19 million and mounting pressure on cash reserves. The gradual sale of the LEC slot to Karmine Corp provided temporary relief, yet the organization remained weakened and searching for stability.
Although the exact value of the transaction has not been disclosed, Richard Lewis reports that Fusion’s bid was not the highest, but rather the one considered most suitable to ensure a smooth transition. That choice carries additional weight given that for months the market had expected a takeover by foreign investors, particularly from China or the Middle East.
The future of the club, now focused exclusively on Counter-Strike, will depend heavily on Kristensen’s ability to restore both sporting competitiveness and financial sustainability.
