The game mode has been available in League of Legends since October 22nd
League of Legends received a new game mode this October. ARAM Mayhem, or simply Mayhem, is a new way to play All Random, All Mid in Riot Games' MOBA, making the experience even more interesting.
Available since the start of Act 2 of Season 3 (Trials of Twilight), the game mode offers a new feature: augments – buffs that increase champions' power. The mode will remain available until the end of the 2025 season on January 9, 2026.
How does ARAM Mayhem work?
The "Mayhem" variant brings some new features to ARAM. The main one is the modification of champions in four stages called "Augment Selection" throughout the match.
Augments are boosts classified into three different tiers: Silver, Gold, and Prismatic. Although random, they will have the same tier for all players. Each player will have four augments throughout the match:
- At the start of the game
- At levels 7, 11, and 15
Augments can only be selected by the player upon death. If the player has already reached the level to select two, the selection screen will appear twice.
Another difference from traditional ARAM is the absence of runes and the mandatory Flash spell. The second spell can be chosen by the player – except for Exhaustion.
Mayhem mode also features unique items and exclusive spells. Check out the list:
- Items: Atma's Reckoning; The Golden Spatula; Jarvan I's; Rite of Ruin; Stormrazor; and Sword of Blossoming Dawn.
- Spells: Poltergeist; and Laser Heal.
What are augments?
Augments are buffs that grant players improved effects, increased stats, or new complementary abilities. As mentioned above, they range from Silver to Prismatic, scaling in power.
Players can select one of three augments presented on each selection screen: the augment tier will be randomized each time - but the same tier for all players. Summoners can also reroll each augment, meaning they can choose up to six augments per selection screen.
Augment logic has already been incorporated into League of Legends arenas, but ARAM Mayhem will feature over 40 new ones.
What are the best augments in the game?
The best ARAM Mayhem augments are Prismatic tier. However, a few stand out in each tier. In this topic, we'll introduce you to some of the best augments in each tier in patch 25.21. Check them out:
Top 5 Silver augments:
- Buff Buddies – Grants the Crest of Cinders and Crest of Insight permanently.
- Scoped Weapons – Gain 75 melee or 50 ranged bonus attack range.
- Augmented Power – Gain Critical Defend Chance equal to 100% critical strike chance, up to 50%. Additionally, gain 25% critical strike chance. (Critical Defend Chance: Grants you a chance to reduce an instance of damage taken by 20%).
- Witchful Thinking – Grants 20 – 80 (based on level) ability power.
- Blunt Force – Increases attack damage by 15%.
Top 5 Gold augments:
- Apex Inventor – Grants 100 item haste, which is equivalent to 50% cooldown reduction for items.
- Firebrand – Basic attacks apply a Burn for 5 seconds that deals bonus magic damage equal to 0.4% of the target's maximum health per second. This Burn stacks infinitely and refreshes with each application.
- Flashy – Your Flash now has 3 charges with a 2-second cooldown between casts (180 seconds recharge time).
- Soul Siphon – Your critical strikes heal you for 12% of damage dealt. Additionally, gain 25% critical strike chance.
- From Beginning to End – Gain the Dark Harvest and First Strike keystone runes.
Top 5 Prismatic augments:
- Scopiest Weapons – Gain 250 melee or 50 ranged bonus attack range.
- Biggest Snowball Ever – Upgrades your Mark into a massive snowball, empowering it with an increased size radius and the ability to pass through non-champions. The snowball additionally explodes upon impact of the target hit to deal 200 – 350 (based on level) (+ 100% bonus AD) (+ 60% AP) magic damage to all nearby enemies, knock them up for 0.75 seconds, and slow them by 20% for 2 seconds. Additionally, your Mark's cooldown is reduced equivalent to 100 ability haste. If you do not already have Mark, the summoner spell in the second slot is replaced with Mark. Non-champions hit are stunned for 1.25 seconds.
- Ultimate Revolution – Casting your ultimate ability resets its cooldown immediately after its effect starts or has elapsed (75 second cooldown, reset upon death).
- Ultimate Awakening – Casting your ultimate ability resets the cooldowns of all your basic abilities (10 second cooldown).
- Jeweled Gauntlet – Your abilities can now critically strike for (145% + bonus critical damage) damage. Additionally, gain 25% (+ 4.5% per 100 AP) critical strike chance. If both Jeweled Gauntlet and Vulnerability are equipped, only rolls the critical strike chance of the augment that has the higher critical damage (or either if equal).
How to play ARAM Mayhem?
ARAM Mayhem doesn't replace traditional ARAM; it's simply a variant of the game mode available for a limited time. Starting a match in the new game mode is quite simple. Follow these steps:
- Open League of Legends
- Click "Play" in the top right corner of the home screen
- Select "ARAM" and then "ARAM: Mayhem"

How long will Mayhem be available?
ARAM Mayhem will be available until the end of Act 2 of the Trials of Twilight. In other words, the game mode will be removed from the schedule with the end of the 2025 League of Legends season. Therefore, Mayhem is expected to be available in League of Legends by January 6, 2026.
Please note that these dates are subject to change.
Tips for playing ARAM Mayhem
Prioritize augments that enhance your main abilities: If your champion relies on physical damage, focus on augments like Blunt Force or Scoped Weapons. Mages benefit from Witchful Thinking or Jeweled Gauntlet. Synergy is key.
Keep an eye on the tiers: the higher the tier, the greater the impact. Save your rerolls for the higher tiers, especially Prismatic, where the most powerful augments appear.
Experiment with new combinations: Mayhem mode is perfect for testing builds outside the meta. Take advantage of augments to transform champions who don't normally shine in ARAM into true damage machines.
Think about the team, not just yourself: some augments and spells indirectly benefit allies, such as Buff Buddies, which grant permanent bonuses. Choosing buffs with a collective effect can be the difference in winning teamfights.
