After a lackluster split on Magnifico, Sergio
"AtomiK" Pérez Cortés is joining the duo of Lautaro Francisco
"ajg" Gusinsky and Ivan
"Dorito" Ruiz Jiménez on
Mate y Tapa. The roster will look for wins at the Last Change Qualifiers (LCQ) for the
Rocket League World Championship and
Esports World Cup (EWC). The three are looking for an organization and coach (to place alongside manager Melvin
"Natra" Garcia), and have already
registered for the EWC LCQ to take place in August.
The last openings of 2026
With both 15/16 slots at the EWC and 20/24 at the
RLCS World Championship already secured, the LCQs for each event serve as the final chances for players around the world to form rosters as they see fit and compete for a place on the LAN stage. Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America will each host an LCQ event in July, with the winners of each qualifying for the RLCS World Championship.
The EWC LCQ will occur from August 08 to August 10 offline in Paris ahead of the competition’s main event. The LCQ is open registration, leaving its 128 slots to be claimed by teams around the world looking to compete and able to fund their participation on-site. Registration closes on July 31; alongside direct qualification to the EWC main event, the LCQ also offers a $100,000 prize pool to be distributed among the top 16 teams at the event.
AtomiK attempts a comeback
After qualifying for both RLCS Majors, the RLCS World Championship, and the EWC in 2025 on Twisted Minds, AtomiK returned to EU in 2026 to compete alongside David "Rezears" Wünsch and Damian "Tox" Schäfer for the region’s five RLCS Major spots. After finishing two points off of a tiebreaker in Split 1, AtomiK recruited Liam "yujin" Daillac and Nico "Nico" Majgren to compete in Open 4 and Open 5 before replacing Nico with veteran Bruno Alexandre "AcroniK." dos Santos Lopes; the team would not place higher than 9th in any event in Split 2, marking AtomiK’s worst split since 2021.
He looks to return to the LAN stage with ajg and Dorito, who broke out after back-to-back-to-back Swiss Stage exits by placing 8th in Split 2 on Synergy, sticking with Raimon "Rxii" Falgueras Torrent. The duo has stood for two complete seasons following both players’ moves from South America after RLCS 2024 (ajg from KRÜ Esports and Dorito from Complexity Gaming), competing under the Synergy banner for all of RLCS 2025 and RLCS 2026, including a 5th place finish at the RLCS 2025 MENA LCQ.
Dorito served as ajg’s replacement on Complexity after the roster finished 9th at the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship; neither has made a LAN since Dorito qualified to the RLCS 2024 Copenhagen Major on Complexity. The trio will be underdogs with upset potential at both LCQs; several top organizations around the world have already registered for the EWC LCQ, including BS+COMPETITION, FUT Esports, Geekay Esports, Man City Esports, and Virtus.pro.
